Ok, I have read everything that Red Phoenix has published to date, or I thought I had. For some reason (and it escapes me) I missed this amazing paranormal series. Now let me tell you I am a paranormal junkie. Give me a shifter, wolf, dragon, vamp, witches, demons etc. and I am one happy girl.
In the first book of this amazing novella series, we meet Layla and her clan of wolves. Layla has just come of age when tragedy strikes her family and her clan. Her mother, the Keeper of the clan, is dead, and the duty of Keeper falls on innocent Layla. When her father steps down as alpha allowing the man that has treated her badly to step up as Alpha, Layla feels betrayed.
But as the full moon approaches, tribal secrets will be revealed and Layla will need to find courage deep within herself, because failure at the task ahead could mean the end of her tribe.
I loved the dynamic and the strength of these characters. Things are not clear to Layla, but then the meeting of the 4 Alphas and the Keeper has always been a deeply guarded secret. I have to say, the interaction with the Alphas and Layla is HOT HOT HOT and I could not wait to read more in this amazing paranormal series.

What I love about Red Phoenix and her writing is that each story builds on the last, they just pick right up and keep on moving, building an amazing world within the pages of each book.
Layla has survived her first full moon ritual with the 4 Alphas of the tribe. When the neighboring tribes come to try an win Layla's heart, a whole new world of possibilities opens up for her. The possibility of life away from the pack and away from the duties of Keeper. Although this might sound good, this also means giving up the man that has now come to mean so much to her.
Layla has decisions to make about her future, and she will need to look deep into her heart and follow the path that is meant only for her.
I loved the conflict that occured when the other tribes showed up. You just know that there is going to be trouble, but you just never know where it is going to come from. Another amazing installment in this amazing paranormal series.

This being the third book in the series, I hope that there will be more to come in this amazing Shifter series. As you enter the world of wolves that Red Phoenix has built, you feel like you are right there as events unfold.
Layla is truly mated and home with her pack, and as another full moon comes and goes, she settles further into her roll as Keeper. But there are traitors in the tribe that will see her separated from her mate, her Alphas and her duty to the tribe. It will take the Alphas and the tribe to rescue Layla before it is too late.
I loved the way that this story keeps building and then when things begin unfolding and traitors are revealed it is a bit of a shock, but it helps this amazing story grow. I truly cannot wait for the next installment in this series because there are so many things left undone.
