Not long ago, to my surprised delight, somebody described me as being “charming, witty, supremely talented and dangerously fun”. I don’t know how accurate this description is, but I’m curious if the readers will find some of these features reflected in my writing. Speaking of my writing, I must mention that living in Romania – which is considered a projection of the enigmatic and much controversial Shambala, the supposed spiritual center of the Earth – is quite a source of inspiration. I have a native inclination to the occult and paranormal, to mystery and philosophy. The woman in me is a romantic and sensual creature. All these considered, I could describe my writing as being captivating, intriguing, sensual in places and, on the whole, a surreal experience. Enjoy!

If you had to summarize the book for the readers here what would you say?

Short summary: Sexy fireman rescues heiress who has everything and nothing.

Longer summary, based on the back cover, because I’m terrible at summarizing my books: When fireman Fred Breen rescues a bachelorette party after an accident, the media labels him the "Bachelor Hero." But all Fred can think about is the petite brunette who bolted away from him after he carried her to safety. And when he discovers she's none other than Rachel Kessler, the daughter of a tech billionaire, the girl whose kidnapping riveted the nation, he intends to learn every intimate detail about her.
Rachel can't deny the lean-muscled firefighter is smokin' hot. When he rescues her from the limo, she feels safe for the first time since she was held for ransom as a child. Then her overprotective father insists Fred be her bodyguard—and his close presence kindles a burning desire that only he can extinguish.

For those who have never read your books, can you tell us a little about the characters in this book\series?

The series is centered around a firehouse in the fictional town in San Gabriel, California. All the heroes are firefighters at Station 1. Rumor has it the firehouse is under a curse because it has such an unusually high number of bachelor firemen. Not only are they single, they’re so hot they actually made it into People’s Most Beautiful issue one year. They’re sexy, they’re daring, but for these guys, fighting fires is a breeze compared to falling in love. That’s when the real trouble starts!

What scene did you most enjoy writing? Why?

In this book, I really enjoyed writing the “culture clash” scenes with Fred and Rachel. Fred comes from a family full of rowdy brothers, while Rachel was raised in luxury. Her father hires Fred as an emergency live-in bodyguard for a couple of weeks. Here’s a snippet from when Fred moves into her apartment.

“Neither of us wanted this arrangement, but if we’re very clear about our respective needs, we should get along okay.”
Needs. Did she have to mention needs? Especially while she was wearing black yoga pants that showed off every curve of her legs?
“I don’t have needs,” he said firmly, trying to convince himself. “I’m here to do a job, that’s all.”
“Yes, but if you think about it, we’re going to be living together for at least two weeks. Like roommates,” she added. “When I roomed with Liza, Cindy, and Feather, we had a weekly meeting to air any issues we had.”
“I’m not going to have issues.” He tried not to laugh at the idea. “I have brothers and I work at a firehouse. We never air any issues. Except after Double D’s meatballs. We have to air the whole place out then.”
“That’s gross.” The look of horror on her face made him give up on suppressing his laughter.
“You have no idea.” He looked at the pile of towels she’d given him. “What’s all this for, anyway?”
“Hand towel, bath towel, bathrobe, washcloth, just the basics.”
He scowled down at the pile. “Do I have to use them all? I’m more of a single-towel kind of guy.”
“You don’t have hand towels? What do you dry your hands on?”
He shrugged, walking into the sunny tiled bathroom to deposit the towels on top of the toilet tank. Apparently that was the wrong place for them. She immediately hung a smallish towel and a washcloth on the rod next to the sink. The urge to tease her again came over him. “I dry my hands on whatever’s available. If nothing else, the bath mat.”
“The bath mat?”
 
What scene was the hardest to write? Why?

Black moment scenes are always hard for me, because I hate it when my characters screw up. I’m a believer in the idea that your greatest strength can also be your greatest weakness, and I stumbled across that with Fred. His determination to prove himself is a great strength, but it gets in the way of appreciating Rachel’s attempt to rescue him when he’s in jeopardy.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned for 2014?

I’m currently in the midst of outlining Book 2 in my next series, which is all about the Kilby Catfish, a minor league baseball team in Texas. Book 1, All of Me, just went back to my editor, and I’m incredibly excited about it. It’s sad to say goodbye to my beloved firemen, but on the other hand, very energizing to create a new world and new set of characters. After The Night Belongs to Fireman comes out, I have one more release in 2014 - a Christmas-themed novella called It’s a Wonderful Fireman, which will be out on December 2.
